Birds of Australia. Comprising Three Hundred Full-Page Illustrations, with a Descriptive Account of the Life and Characteristic Habits of over Seven Hundred Species [six volumes bound as three]

Melbourne, Charles Stuart & Co., 1890 and 1891.

Imperial folio, three volumes, with five individual title leaves (lacking the one for Volume 4), the few preliminaries as called for, the 30-page index and the page of errata at the end of the last volume, plus 298 (of the standard complement of 303) full-page chromolithographic plates, each with at least one leaf of explanatory text (and, with few exceptions, complete with the original tissue-guard).

Contemporary half roan and cloth; leather rubbed and a little worn at the extremities, with some loss to the head and foot of the spine of the second volume, and minor loss to the head of the third one; title leaf to Volume 1 torn and indifferently repaired with old paper tape; short tears to two leaves of text; a few trifling blemishes to about ten plates, not affecting the image; Volume 6, Plate XLIII (the White-Breasted Sea-Eagle), has small pieces of tissue-guard adhering to it; about 30 tissue-guards have creases, tears or minor loss; and Volume 6 has eight plates bound out of order (Plates XXXIII-XL come after Plates XLI-XLVII).

However, Volume 6 lacks the last five plates (Plates XLVIII-LII). Accordingly, this set is sold as a collection of plates, not subject to return (on the basis of incompleteness; naturally, if we have over-egged the condition of the plates, the usual terms of trade apply).
