An elaborately embossed card inscribed with a Biblical quotation, dated (May 1843) and signed with the initials 'A R' (Adelaide Regina)
The external dimensions of the card are 172 × 211 mm; the external dimensions of the embossed portion are 115 × 165 mm. The inscribed side has a few light marks in the margins well clear of the embossed portion; the verso has two small spots of glue and paper residue where the item was removed from an old mount; overall, a very attractive item.
The inscription reads 'Ps. 11.1: "In the Lord put I my trust"'. Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen, the widow of King William IV (1830-1837), is best remembered by her namesake, the 'City of Churches', the capital of South Australia.
