Large quarto, four volumes, 320, 320, 400 and 274 pages with hundreds of illustrations (many in colour, many full-page) from photographs; the fourth volume reproduces in facsimile many rare motoring brochures and catalogues.

Synthetic cloth (the first three volumes), and cloth with a colour plate mounted on the front cover (the fourth volume); two bottom corners slightly bumped; two leading edges with tiny marks; a few leaves lightly creased; essentially a fine set with the excellent dustwrappers (issued on the first three volumes) showing only slight signs of use and age. The first and fourth volumes are also in slipcases.

Each volume, 'produced regardless of cost', is numbered; the first three volumes are in editions of 4000 copies; the fourth volume is one of 3500. The second volume is dated (18 August 1971) and signed by Harold Paynting and J.H. Flood (son of the company's founder, James William Flood). [4 items].
