Papered boards; mild tape-marks to the top and bottom edges of both covers; light scuffing to the endpapers (with slight paper residue to the rear flyleaf - similar to that of ex-library provenance, but without any other library indicators); a very good copy with the lightly rubbed dustwrapper with two tiny tears to the extremities.

The plates are from daguerreotypes in the author's collection, 'one of the most important and extensive still in private hands. It has never been shown to the public, either in exhibitions or publications'.
