London, David Nutt, 1898 [first edition].
Octavo, xxiv (last blank), 104, 16 (publisher's illustrated catalogue) pages with 6 'illustrations by a native artist' (now known to be Tommy McRae).
Dark green-pictorial light green cloth, all edges uncut; covers a little sunned and marked; a small mark to the leading edge (with subsequent marks to the outside edges of several leaves); a few slight fingermarks; a very good copy.

His surname signature appears on the half-title. Andrew Lang has written a seven-page introduction. The companion volume to 'Australian Legendary Tales' (1896), which is advertised (with one of its illustrations) on page 12 of the bound-in publisher's catalogue as 'An Australian Jungle-Book'.
