Police Commission. Charges against Members of the Police Force

Melbourne, Government Printer, 1881.

Foolscap folio, 22 pages with a floor-plan of 'Aaron Sheritt's [sic] House, Sebastopol' on the last page.

Stab-sewn as issued (and stapled into plain card covers with a typed title-label, probably in the 1960s); minimal edge foxing; a fine copy.

Victorian Parliamentary Paper C6 of 1881; one of only 800 copies printed. The five witnesses include Superintendent Francis Hare, Superintendent John Sadleir, Detective Michael Ward and Constable Robert Alexander. Aaron Sherritt, a childhood friend of Joe Byrne, one of the Kelly gang, became a double agent, working for both the gang and the police. He was murdered at his home near Beechworth on 26 June 1880 by Byrne, two days before he himself lost his life in the siege at Glenrowan.
