Sydney, [The Company, 1891].
Octavo, 157, [3, blank apart from the colophon on the end] pages with 10 and 7 pages of advertisements at the front and rear respectively.
Cloth a little rubbed and bumped at the extremities; remains of a paper label on the front cover (but see our footnote); endpapers foxed; an excellent copy.
A rarity in any event (we can trace only one copy of the catalogue of just one of these major annual sales - the 'Twenty-seventh Annual Stud Sheep Fair, July 1901' - in any Australian institutional collection, namely that of the State Library of NSW). More significantly, our item is the office copy (so designated in ink and on a paper label on the front cover), fully marked up with the details of the names of the purchasers and the prices paid for all 737 lots. Some relevant notes are pencilled on the front endpaper. The sale hit the ground running; the first two lots, special stud rams from the 'Sir Thomas' flock, consigned by James Gibson of Bellevue, Tasmania, sold for 370 and 150 guineas respectively.
