The Discoverers of the Brisbane River

Brisbane, printed by H.J. Diddams & Co., 1913.

Octavo, [viii], 221 pages plus 9 plates and a folding map.

Gilt-decorated cloth moderately flecked, with the spine heavily sunned; light scattered foxing throughout (heavier on the leaves adjacent to the boards); overall an excellent copy of a book rarely found thus.

The title is misleading; although it is the longest chapter of the book (77 pages), it is just the first of seven separate articles. The three on the Glass House Mountains and other mountains nearby are far more interesting (and important - see the author's four-page explanatory note, pages 100-103). The other chapters are Matthew Flinders (8 pages); A Glimpse of Moreton Bay (18 pages); Glass House Mountains (41 pages); Crookneck climbed by Two Sturdy Queenslanders (19 pages); Successful Ascent of Coonowrim (16 pages); and The 'Bounty' Mutiny (42 pages).
