Across Unknown Australia. [A Thrilling Account of Exploration in the Northern Territory of Australia (cover subtitle)]

London, Herbert Jenkins Limited, February 1926/ November 1925.

Octavo, 312 (last blank), [8] (book catalogue) pages with a map plus 40 plates.

Green cloth (lettered in black) a little marked and rubbed at the extremities; spine sunned; endpapers renewed; edges lightly foxed; minor signs of age and use; a very good copy.

An account of eighteen months driving an ancient tin lizzie from Winton to Broome, much of it across trackless country. The first Michael Terry opus. Loosely inserted is an article by Robert Drewe, 'The Last Explorer looks back' (three leaves from 'The Bulletin', 18 November 1980). At that time, Terry had lived alone for the previous ten years, first at a War Veteran's home, then an old people's home. 'He glares into the far distance. His face is as white as paper. "Yes", says the last explorer'.
