A Treatise on the Building and Ornamental Stones of Great Britain and Foreign Countries, arranged according to their Geological Distribution and Mineral Character, with Illustrations of their Application in Ancient and Modern Structures

London, Macmillan and Co., 1872.

Octavo, [ii], xxiv, 333 pages with 2 illustrations plus 2 mounted Woodburytypes (70 × 110 mm, 'Forum Romanum, Showing the extent of the recent excavations'; and 110 × 80 mm, 'Monoliths of red and grey Egyptian Granite ... Piazza of St Mark, Venice').

Original cloth slightly rubbed and marked, with the head and foot of the spine slightly snagged; uncut edges a little foxed; inner hinges cracked but firm; scattered foxing (heavier on the mounts of the two plates and the facing pages, caused by the still-present tissue-guards); slight loss to the top margin of two leaves (from inexpert opening); an excellent copy.
