Large quarto, xvi, 216 (last blank), [6] (List of Subscribers), [1] (publisher's list) pages with numerous in-text illustrations plus an additional chromolithographic illuminated title leaf, a dedication leaf, and 12 full-page tinted plates with tissue-guards.

Original green cloth extensively decorated in black and gilt, all edges gilt; cloth slightly worn at the extremities, with trifling loss at the foot of the spine; hinges cracked but firm; slight imperfections to the rear endpaper; one tissue-guard torn; binding cracked in three places, but the stitching is very firm; occasional light foxing; small light stain from a pressed flower in one gutter; minor signs of age and handling; a very good copy.

Loosely inserted is a quantity of newspaper clippings, mainly from the early 1930s, most of them relating to Melbourne.
