Pictorial black cloth blocked in gilt, olive-green and yellow, with a circular colour-pictorial onlay mounted on the front cover (an enlarged detail from the frontispiece); covers slightly rubbed and lightly flecked; extremities very slightly bruised; small light mark to two margins; light dog-ear crease to two corners; an excellent copy.
A bright and attractive copy of the first edition of this early romantic farce. It was published in Britain later the same year under the title 'A Gentleman of Leisure'. McIlvaine A13a.1; Jasen 13.
