Gilt-decorated red sheep, all edges gilt; leather slightly rubbed at the extremities, with minimal loss to the head of the spine; endpapers and edges lightly foxed; a few trifling spots internally; slight loss to the bottom margin of one leaf; overall, an excellent copy.
One of 3000 copies of the leather-bound deluxe issue. These copies were bound from the sheets of the first trade issue, and are found in blue, green, or red leather. See John R. Payne: 'Four Children's Books by A.A. Milne', in 'Studies in Bibliography', Volume 23 (University of Virginia Press, 1970). He notes that these copies were bound 'by Burn' (presumably James Burn & Company).
