Red cloth lettered in gilt on the spine, top edge dyed red (as issued); cloth a little marked and lightly faded on the spine; front top corner and the foot of the rear joint a little worn, with light wear to the bottom corners and the head of the rear joint; free endpapers unevenly discoloured; an early leaf (pages [7/8]) lightly unevenly tanned; short sealed tear to the top inner corner margin of two leaves (pages 223-226); light crease to the bottom corner margin of pages 99-184; other minimal signs of age and use, but overall, a very good copy, with the small contemporary paper label of the Sydney booksellers Grahame Book Company mounted at the foot of the front pastedown.
