Both volumes are translated by Don Wilson. William Bouguereau (1825-1905), French academic painter: 'Modernism nearly succeeded in expunging three generations of great art from 1850 to 1910. The Biography explores the relevance of William Bouguereau's life and work during this period, which embodied the Classical "Tradition" applied to an explosion of new subjects and techniques ushered in by the Age of reason' (dustwrapper blurb).
