Gilt-pictorial navy cloth lightly bumped at the extremities and a little marked; spine lightly sunned, with slight wear to the head of the front joint; minimal expert conservation to both hinges; later gift inscription on the verso of the front free endpaper; overall, an excellent copy.
A presentation copy of an uncommon book on an uncommon (Australian) topic: the head of the title page is inscribed 'Revd. G.H. Jose, with the author's best regards' (albeit the inscription is now very faint, as an attempt has been made to chemically erase it). Sir William Henry Bundey (1838-1909), for ten years Commodore of the South Australian Yacht Club, was a South Australian MP (Attorney-General, 1878-81), and later a Supreme Court judge. George Herbert Jose (1868-1956) was a missionary, churchman, military chaplain and historian of the Anglican Church in South Australia.
