External dimensions 138 × 87 mm; in fine condition.

Peake 3888 ('Eagle on rock', 1932). An untrimmed remarque proof, numbered (4/6) and signed in pencil by the artist in the bottom margin (and almost certainly printed by him). Noel Wood (1912-2001) was born in Strathalbyn, South Australia. Soon after producing this artwork, he lived on Kangaroo Island (1933-35) before his 'escape to the tropical paradise of Bedarra Island in far North Queensland fostered a romantic image and the colourful paintings he produced there established a considerable profile during the 1930s and 1940s' (Design & Art Australia Online).
