Abingdon 'King-Dick' Non-electric Vacuum Cleaner. Makes Light Work of Housework. Costs nothing to run, and little to buy! [cover title]
Tyseley, Abingdon Works, 1931.
Octavo; a pictorial bifolium printed in blue and black; a few creases where folded; an excellent copy.
The centrespread confidently asserts that the King Dick is the 'obvious answer to the "housewife's prayer".... To do your work quick - you must use a "King Dick" ... Install one now - electricity is entirely unnecessary'. It's hard to believe that this glorified carpet sweeper, with its mechanically-driven suction fan, never caught on. This copy is over-printed with the Australian price (a steal at '£5-15-0 Plus Tax'), and has the inkstamp of the local distributor (Hannan Bros Ltd, Flinders Street, Adelaide).
