Plain card covers with attached slightly overlapping stiffened wrappers with narrow French flaps (with a two-colour paper title-label mounted on the front cover); top corners of the wrappers lightly bumped; an excellent copy.
Number 9 of 20 special copies with 'an additional double spread and 4 extra H.B. Muir bookplates'. The standard issue comprised 200 copies signed by the author (numbered 21-220, with each one containing two tipped-in bookplates 'from Harry Muir's private collection and the title page colophon [here printed in red] was the one he used at the Wakefield Press'). Only 100 copies of the standard issue were for sale. The standard issue contains a colour linocut frontispiece by George Perrottet, and a plain woodcut by Eric Thake at page [44]. The four additional plates in this special edition are by G.D. Perrottet (in colour), Adrian Feint, Derek Riley and John Goodchild. Provenance: Marcie Muir (1919-2007); by descent.
