Cloth a little marked; edges slightly foxed; flyleaves lightly tanned; a very good copy with the two-colour pictorial dustwrapper tanned, tidemarked and with notable silverfish damage (chiefly to the extremities) (and the title pencilled on the spine).

The front panel of the dustwrapper features the fine portrait by Charles Scott of a young indigenous woman, Clara from Oodnadatta, and her child. The front flyleaf carries a gift inscription from the author's wife, Mary A. Sexton (7 February 1955).
