This charming collection comprises:

1. The final preparatory artwork for the bookplate by George Perrottet under Muir's maiden name, Marcie Collett (India ink and watercolour on card, 105 × 77 mm), tipped-in inside a small card bifolium inscribed 'Sketch for lino cut Bookplate' and signed by Perrottet on the front cover.

2. The original linoleum printing block (approximately 87 × 62 mm), mounted on a wooden block backed with card.

3. An uncoloured trial proof on fine paper, touched up with ink, accompanied by a note by Marcie's husband Harry, stating that it is the 'Last state before proof'.

4. A proof on fine paper, hand-coloured and signed by Perrottet; it is also referred to in the above note.

5. A signed hand-coloured copy of the final version (with a note in Harry Muir's hand stating it is one of '8 Hassell [Press] prints coloured & signed by G.D.P. He will try and do more for you'.

6. An unsigned hand-coloured example of the printed bookplate, with four small watercolour test patches on the verso.

7. An unsigned and uncoloured example of the printed bookplate.

This attractive bookplate, featuring a vase of Australian native flowers, is featured as the frontispiece to Harry Muir's 'The Bookplates of G.D. Perrottet' (Adelaide, The Wakefield Press, 1942), where it appears as number 161 in the checklist, dated 1941. Peake 1057.

Offered together with the original process block for the bookplate by Astra Lacis for Marcie Muir's collection of Australian children's books, now at the National Library of Australia, together with one example of the printed plate. Peake 3891.
