An original hand-coloured lithograph, matted, framed and glazed (visible image size 500 × 340 mm; external dimensions 615 × 435 mm).

Plain background unevenly discoloured, with a 40 mm sealed tear to the right-hand margin, and a few tiny surface bruises well clear of the subjects; common name lightly pencilled in beneath the printed scientific name; in good condition.

Plate 17 from Volume III of John Gould's 'Birds of Australia' (1840-1848). This species is now known as the Chirruping Wedgebill.
