Red cloth lettered in gilt on the spine, and decorated and lettered in an ornate font in gilt on the front cover; a fine copy with the matching red cloth slipcase lettered and decorated in gilt.
'Created by J. Daniel Gunther between 1977 and 1979 ... the series [of images] forms an account of transformation and a gradual realisation of the Great Work' (from the foreword by Robert Buratti). Loosely inserted is a printed card, signed in ink by J. Daniel Gunther, Stephen J. King (who wrote the afterword), and Robert Buratti, stating this is number 120 of only 200 copies. A second edition has subsequently been released by Wennofer House. The publisher (stating in error that this first edition appeared in 2011) describes their production thus: 'second edition - the white edition - limited to 500 copies. A bookshelf size [approximately 300 × 240 mm] ... white cloth bound hard cover and slipcase'.
