Early half calf (lettered and ruled in gilt on the spine) and marbled papered boards, all edges lightly speckled red; leather a little rubbed at the extremities; sides a little rubbed and scuffed, with small areas of surface loss at the rear; trifling signs of age and use, but essentially in excellent condition in an appealing colonial binding (the small paper label of 'C. Byng, Practical Bookbinder, 41, King William St.' in Adelaide is mounted at the foot of the front pastedown).
