Folio, [viii], 219 pages with 16 mounted colour plates plus an original etching (image size 168 × 133 mm, paper size 230 × 175 mm) mounted within a gilt and black foliate border in a stiff card folder bound in at the front of the book.
Quarter vellum and pictorial foil-blocked papered boards with vellum tips (by The Fine Book Bindery), hand-lettered in gilt by Stephen Raw; top edge gilt, others uncut; a fine copy in the fine publisher's Solander box.
'The "Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám" was first published by Bernard Quaritch in 1859. The text of this edition follows that of the first edition, with minor emendations' (verso of the title page). This sesquicentennial 'edition is limited to one thousand copies, signed and numbered by the artist on the etching'; this is number 824.
