Dated (8 December 1996), inscribed and signed in ink on the title page by the author; also signed in ink on the title page by physicist and the first locally-born Governor of South Australia [Sir] Mark Oliphant (1901-2000), who was formerly a pupil at The Mylor School (see page 14). In his Acknowledgements to this new revised and enlarged edition, the author explains that 'in light of the sensitive and controversial nature of some materials in the new chapter (Chapter 15), I wish to stress that the views expressed in that chapter (and indeed in the entire book) are my own and not necessarily those of the District Council of Stirling or of any of its councillors or staff'; he is referring, in part, to the groups of plaintiffs who suing the District Council of Stirling for damages resulting from the 1980 and 1983 bushfires with one result that 'on 14 June 1990 the State Government suspended the Stirling Council'.
