Folio (a gilt-edged bifolium, third page blank, fourth page docketed 'Thomas Emett | Pardon'), the first page - with an embossed paper seal attached - signed at the head by the King, the second page countersigned at the foot by the Home Secretary and future Prime Minister Lord Melbourne.

Creases where folded for filing; a few light marks; in excellent condition.

The document, dated 27 August 1833, is addressed to the Justices of Goal Delivery for the Northern Circuit and the High Sheriff of Lancaster. Convict records indicate Emett, sentenced to death for a malicious shooting, was transported with 252 other convicts to NSW on the 'Hive' in January 1834, arriving on 11 June that year.
