William Dawkins (1892-1915) entered Duntroon when it opened in 1911; he was with the 2nd Field Company, Australian Engineers, 1st Australian Division when he was killed in action at Gallipoli on 21 May 1915. The author is his niece; a letter and some ephemera relating to the book are loosely inserted.
