Two circular pieces of stiff card, respectively 230 mm and 260 mm in diameter, fastened together in the centre by a metal eyelet; the visible surface of the smaller top one is a colour illustration of staff in a darkroom setting, working on 'Committee Exposures'; the larger one has text on both sides (see below).
A small section of the perimeter of the larger disc is slightly cockled and lightly creased; overall, in excellent condition.
This novelty supper menu supplies joke profiles of 41 members of the staff of David Jones (including Mr C.L. Jones and Mr J.G. Jones). Their names are listed on the annulus, and a small portrait and various attributes of each one are displayed in small windows in the smaller disc as it is rotated. The windows display Age, Temperature, Vices, Virtues, Condition To-night, Status on Committee, and Financial Standing. Some of the results must be in-jokes ... The menu itself is listed on the edge of the reverse: 'Oyster cocktail, Roast turkey and York ham, Roast chicken. Ox tongue, Potato salad, Dressed mayonnaise salads, Iced asparagus, French pastries, Fruit salad and cream, Sherry cream trifles, Charlotte Russe, Ice cream, Iced fruit cup, Iced claret cup, Coffee'.
