Tom Roberts, 1856-1931. A Catalogue Raisonné. Volume 1: Text. Volume 2: Plates
Melbourne, Oxford University Press, 1985.
Quarto, two volumes, xviii, 261 pages with 84 illustrations (after photographs); and [xviii] pages plus approximately 140 unnumbered leaves of plates (many in colour).
Papered boards; a fine set with the fine dustwrappers - and very rare thus. The dustwrappers are almost invariably sunned, but these volumes are still in the publisher's original cardboard packaging, and have never been shelved.
Volume 1 'comprises a detailed biographical study and essays which discuss significant aspects of Roberts's career ... The catalogue then documents, in chronological order, all known works by Roberts - sketches, drawings, paintings and bookplate designs - held in public and private collections. Volume 2 contains reproductions of some 900 of Roberts's works, many in full colour' (from the dustwrapper blurb). [2 items].
