Item #129119 Bush Echoes [cover title]. William Austin HORN.
Bush Echoes [cover title]

Bush Echoes [cover title]

[London, Printed by Waterlow & Sons (for the Author), 1915] (date at the foot of the introduction).

Octavo, 28 pages plus the pictorial title-cover (with full-page illustrations on the inside surfaces) plus 5 plates; the two front cover illustrations, and two of the plates, feature wood carvings by the author.

Cord-bound pictorial card covers slightly rubbed along the spine and a trifle marked; scattered light foxing; an excellent copy.

Not to be confused with the author's 1901 prose publication of the same title, this is a collection of verse of the stockwhip-and-saddle-school by William Austin Horn (1841-1922), mining magnate, pastoralist and politician. 'Proceeds for Benefit of Wounded Australians' is printed at the head of the front cover. The issue in blue cloth appears to be much more common than this issue in wrappers.
