Old Colonial Architecture in New South Wales and Tasmania

Sydney, The Author, 1924.

Large folio (585 × 385 mm), [vi] (containing a tipped-in frontispiece and title-page vignette), 10, 4, [96] (containing 48 tipped-in plates, versos blank), [2] (blank, colophon) pages; all plates are collotypes (from artwork by the author), and all but the plate on the title page have a captioned tissue-guard.

Quarter art vellum and gilt-decorated batik-patterned papered boards (lettered in gilt on the spine and front cover), leading and bottom edges uncut; art vellum a little foxed and discoloured; covers a little rubbed and slightly worn at the extremities; endpapers a little foxed and marked; stitching a little strained in a few places; some tissue-guards creased and slightly foxed, several slightly chipped, one partly detached, one with a very short tear; minimal signs of use and age; overall an excellent copy of a book that does not wear well in our experience, now housed in a later custom-made Solander box (slightly rubbed and scuffed).

Number 164 of 1000 copies signed by the author. The book, including the fine collotypes, was 'made and printed' in Vienna (the plates by Max Jaffe, the book by A. Holzhausen).
