Duodecimo, three volumes, [iv], 347 pages plus 10 plates; [iv], 320 pages plus 7 plates; and [vi], 367 pages plus 9 plates.

Early full morocco, lettered and extensively decorated in gilt on the spines, all edges gilt; leather a little rubbed at the extremities; minor wear to the corners, rear joint and the head of the spine of the first volume; trifling signs of use and age; overall, an excellent set.

Provenance: Nicholas Chevalier (1828-1902), the Russian-born artist who worked extensively in Australasia between 1855 and 1869, when he departed for England with the Duke of Edinburgh on the return leg of his world tour on HMS 'Galatea'.
