Berlin, Franz Lipperheide, January to June 1900.
Folio, [ii] (title page and table of contents for the Unterhaltungsblatt), iv (title page and table of contents for the Modenwelt), iii-vi (possibly the balance of the first table of contents) pages and 12 consecutive issues of the journal (published on the 1st and the 15th of each month), each approximately 32 pages, extensively illustrated (predominantly with women's fashions), and each one complete with the large-format fashion plate frontispiece (either chromolithographed or with original hand-colouring). Tipped in on the first page of each issue is a hand-coloured head-and-shoulders oval portrait of a young woman of fashion; these may have been snipped from the original wrappers of each issue.
Contemporary half calf and watered cloth, lettered in gilt on the spine ('Illustrirte Frauen Zeitung. Bd: 27A 1900'); leather a little rubbed at the extremities; minor signs of handling (with neat old paper repairs to tears to the leading edges of approximately ten leaves); overall, in excellent condition.
The first volume of the journal was published in January 1874; it appears to have ceased publication in December 1911 with Volume 39, Number 6.
