[Adelaide, The Author, 1952].
Quarto, x, 200 pages of duplicated typescript plus 15 pages of plates.
Quarter green cloth and printed papered boards; covers unevenly sunned and a little rubbed; edges and preliminaries lightly foxed; a couple of unobtrusive marks internally; a very good copy.
Number 163 of only 200 copies (with part of the edition bound in card covers). The work is based on three main sources: the official published account written by Peron and Freycinet after the death of Baudin (much of it had not at this time been translated into English); Baudin's manuscript journal (not published in English until 1974), and the manuscript diary of Master-Shipwright Ronsard.
