Large octavo, two volumes, lii, 610 and xvi, 644 pages with numerous illustrations plus a total of 50 plates (mainly after photographs by Félix Bonfils and others) and a folding map (mounted on linen) in the rear endpocket of a separate cloth portfolio, with the limitation statement (printed on paper) mounted on the front pastedown.
The text volumes are 'half-bound in Indian goatskin by Lachenmaier, Reutlingen, Germany, with marbled paper sides by Jemma Lewis [with top edges gilt]. The map is mounted in panels on Atlantic cloth and case-bound in Arbelave library buckram'; a fine set in the fine slipcase (cloth-covered, with a gilt-lettered morocco title-label on the spine).
Number 475 of '780 numbered copies for sale to members of The Folio Society, and 20 lettered copies which are not for sale'. The ten-page preface by Rory Stewart is new to this edition; the eleven-page introduction by T.E. Lawrence first appeared in the 1921 edition; the 'text of this edition follows that of the 1936 "new and definitive" edition'. [3 items].
