Henry Bournes Higgins (1851-1929), politician and judge: 'As a member of the judiciary committee of the Federal Convention he opposed the suggested constitution and acted with the Victorian Labour party in its attempt to throw out the Federation Bill. He became Attorney-General in the Watson Government and in 1906 was made a Justice of the High Court ...' (from the dustwrapper blurb). The author, Janet Gertrude (Nettie) Palmer née Higgins (1885-1964), writer and critic, was a niece of Henry Bournes Higgins.
