Original tan morocco; spine lettered in gilt and ruled in gilt and blind; front-cover with gilt cartouche containing the initials I.W.; top edge gilt, others uncut and almost entirely unopened; covers slightly rubbed and a little marked; spine lightly sunned; plates a little offset onto the facing page (now protected with loose tissue-guards); a few trifling marks internally; an excellent copy.
'This edition consists of 1100 copies for sale in England by the Nonesuch Press and 500 copies for sale in the United States by Random House Inc. The text has been printed by R. & R. Clark in Edinburgh, the copperplate engravings by A. Alexander and Son in London; the drawings have been colour-stencilled by the Curwen Press, London; all under the care of Francis Meynell.
