Geelong, The Book Nook (Numbers 1 to 11) and Melbourne, The Bookshop of Margareta Webber, 1931 to 1935.

Quarto (Numbers 1-12), and octavo (Number 13); original overlapping pictorial wrappers occasionally slightly chipped, sunned or lightly foxed, with only a few minor blemishes (#2: scattered foxing // #3: head of both joints split // #7: spine chipped with minor loss, front cover a little creased // #8-12: a few short sealed tears to the edges of the covers, with the front cover of #12 a little stained); overall the set is in excellent condition.

Number 1 is the deluxe edition limited to 50 copies numbered and signed by the editor, containing 'Original, Signed and Numbered Lino-cuts, by Christian Waller, Arthur Baldwinson, Marjorie Wood, Ron Meadows, - and an Original, Signed and Numbered Etching by Arthur Baldwinson'; this is copy 30. This copy has a later full morocco binding (retaining the original wrappers), with one of the many bookplates of Kaz Posney on the front pastedown. Number 2 contains two original woodblock prints by Margaret Preston, 'Banksias' (page [77]) and 'Western Australian Gum Blossoms' (page [93]), limited to 750 copies each (see Butler: The Prints of Margaret Preston, 163 and 164), as well as the ADDITIONAL loosely inserted original woodblock print of 'Banksias', issued as an incentive to attract new subscribers (now a little foxed). There are another eight original Preston woodblock prints in other issues of the journal: Numbers 4 (one), 7 (two), 10 (three) and 12 (two). For more details, see Butler 166, 176, 178 and 179-183; 1200 copies of each one were produced. Original linocuts and woodcuts by significant artists are a feature of this impressive journal: apart from Preston and those with signed items in the deluxe first number, other artists represented on a number of occasions include Dorrit Black, Eric Thake, Lionel Lindsay, and Rex Wood; M. Napier Waller, Christian Waller, and Ethel Spowers appearing once each. [13 items].
