A group photograph of 33 Australian Light Horsemen, probably taken 'somewhere in NSW' during the First World War

A vintage gelatin silver photograph (image size 155 × 204 mm), mounted on card with the inkstamp credit of W. Payne Fulton (the stamp is difficult to decipher, but it may read 'W. Payne Fulton | Oakleigh Studio | 75 Leinster St., Padd.').

Mount bumped at the extremities, with two opposing corners cracked; the photograph is a little foxed, with trifling loss to the left-hand bottom corner and edge; corner-tip torn away; overall in very good condition.

The verso of the mount has the hand-written title 'Equitation Party', along with 32 signatures in pencil, and the key to their location in the image. The last signature is A.W. Gordon Smith (23082 Arthur William Gordon Smith, 1st Australian Wireless Signal Squadron). A much later ink inscription at the foot of the verso states that 'Gordon my late husband is ninth from left hand side in back row ... Sent from (Mrs) M.T. Smith ... Lindfield, NSW'.
