Full black calf lettered in gilt on the front cover, and ruled in gilt front and rear; extremities a little rubbed; covers a little bowed and lightly scuffed; a very good copy.

Sir Charles Henry Goode (1827-1922) was an Adelaide merchant and philanthropist. The front cover of the binding is stamped 'C. Gwen Lloyd'; this is Constance Gwen Lloyd (circa 1884-1913), one of Goode's two step-daughters ('Australian Dictionary of Biography').
