A selection of seven small woodcuts from 'A Book of Woodcuts. Drawn on Wood and engraved by Lionel Lindsay' (Sydney, Art in Australia, 1922)
The edition was limited to 200 copies, of which 175 were for sale in Australia, with the remaining 25 copies reserved for a London edition, published by Constable. The book (quarto, [52] pages) contained 21 tipped-in original woodcuts (the frontispiece, 'Poppies', with three colours applied by hand) plus an original woodcut title-label mounted on the front cover. The titles and Mendelssohn page reference numbers are: 'The Sultan' (39); 'Chinese Beauty' (55); 'The Colloquy' (130); 'Odalesque' (131); 'Donkey' (143); 'The Nymphs' (159); and 'The Windsor Barn' (160). The image size of the largest is 118 × 83 mm; the smallest is 51 × 76 mm. Apart from light creases to a few corner-tips, just touching the printed surface on only one occasion, the woodcuts are in fine condition. [7 items].
