The Colony of Western Australia. A Manual for Emigrants to that Settlement or its Dependencies: comprising its Discovery, Settlement, Aborigines, Land-Regulations, Principles of Colonial Emigration ...

London, James Fraser, 1839.

Octavo, xii, 298, lxiv pages plus 4 lithographed plates (2 of them folding), and 4 double-sided folding tables of landholders (paginated lvii-lxiv).

Later buckram lettered in gilt on the spine, all edges speckled; top and leading edges lightly stained, resulting in a few small light tidemarks to the margins of the two full-page plates; paper a little browned, with occasional light foxing and offsetting; minimal signs of use and age; a very good copy.

The folding plates, after sketches by Charles Wittenoom, are of lasting value. They are 'Sketch of the Town of Perth from Perth Water, Western Australia', and 'Sketch of the Town of Freemantle [sic] from the Court House, Arthur's Head, Western Australia'. Ferguson 2819 (noting that the first edition, first issue, contained a folding hand-coloured Arrowsmith map of Western Australia in an endpocket. This rebound copy does not contain the map).
