The Theory of Water-Finding, with Advice thereon. By a Professional
Pipsmore Farm, Chippenham, The Author, 1892 (second edition).
Sextodecimo (177 × 120 mm), 44, [8] (index, 6 pages of advertisements, colophon), viii (Appendix) pages plus a frontispiece portrait.
Flush-cut quarter cloth and printed papered boards, with advertising on the outside rear cover; boards a little bowed; top corners bumped (throughout); a very good copy, although the production quality (in particular, ensuring the printed surfaces were aligned before the edges were guillotined) leaves a bit to be desired.
Loosely inserted is a self-promotional leaflet (circa 1897) advertising the author's services (quarto, 4 pages with 3 illustrations, folded to fit inside the book), as well as an annotated printed note (folded twice) from English physicist, dowser and parapsychologist Sir William Fletcher Barrett (1844-1925), spruiking his own work, 'On the So-Called Divining Rod'.
