One of the Gardeners' Chronicle Handbooks series. 'The first three chapters are the result of seven years' experience in the field, where I have been collecting ... in China, Tibet, Burma, and Assam. No originality is claimed for Chapter IV. Chapters V and VI represent personal views, tinctured by experience.... Most of the above chapters were published in "The Gardeners' Chronicle" in 1924. Since my return from the interior of Tibet in 1925, I have enlarged the scope of the work, adding some of the most recent observations on the genus' (author's preface).
