Wooden Fishing Boats. A Documented and Pictorial History of the Wooden Fishing Vessels that have fished the Waters off Kangaroo Island

Kingscote, The Author, October 1998.

Quarto, [vii] (first blank), v, 772 (last four blank) pages with a double-page map and many hundreds of illustrations (from photographs).

Original gilt-pictorial full calf lightly marked and a little scuffed (mainly at the rear); an excellent copy.

An extraordinary work, long out of print, and rarely seen on the open market these days. This is number 214 of 250 copies of the leather-bound limited edition signed by the author (on stiff card tipped in on the title page, as issued). The trade edition is in gilt-decorated blue cloth; we have not seen this deluxe edition before. This copy is inscribed on the title page 'To Terry Arnott. Thank you for the help in putting this book together. Very best wishes. Gifford. 22nd January 1999'. The foreword includes the following paragraph: 'I would also like to make a special mention of Terry Arnott, of Heritage South Australia, who did not hesitate to spend his valuable time and energy checking details and looking up facts for me'.
