A Manual for the Study of Monumental Brasses, with a Descriptive Catalogue of 450 'Rubbings' in the Possession of the Oxford Architectural Society ...

Oxford, Oxford Architectural Society, 1848.

Octavo, [xvi], cxiv, [ii], 227, [1] (colophon) pages with a 4-page list of subscribers and 52 in-text illustrations plus a colour frontispiece.

Early half calf and marbled papered boards, all edges and endpapers marbled; spine extensively gilt-decorated in compartments, with a contrasting leather title-label; sides and corners a little rubbed; frontispiece lightly foxed, with light tidemarks to the edges (as a result of the edge-marbling); an excellent copy with the binder's ticket of H. Patterson & Co., Newcastle-on-Tyne.

There is a small embossed stamp of the State Library of South Australia on the title page, and a pencilled note at the rear, reminding me that I purchased the item from the library on 13 November 1997, exactly five weeks after I moved into my current business premises (and thanks to COVID-19 we have finally found time to catalogue it!).
