Signed by the author on the title page. Vic Hall (1896-1972) was a member of the Northern Territory Mounted Police from 1924-1942. He then served in the Australian Army in the Territory until 1945. 'He was wounded in the eye in the first Darwin air raid [19 February 1942], and this brought on a total blindness by 1954' (dustwrapper blurb).
