A typed letter signed by Harold Wilson soon after he had been made Shadow Foreign Secretary
Small octavo, one page; House of Commons letterhead (with a blindstamp), 20 November 1961.
Folded once for posting; one corner lightly creased; unobtrusive pinholes to the embossed crest; in excellent condition.
The letter is addressed to Mr R.G. Hartcup of Farnham Surrey ('I am afraid it would be too big a problem to try to deal in a letter with the very fundamental points you raise'); he refers him to recent Foreign Affairs debates in Hansard (possibly relating to Britain's application to join the European Community!). Provenance: Collection of The Hon Barry Jones AC.
