A typed letter signed by Franklin D. Roosevelt as Governor of New York, the year before he became President for the first of a record four terms
Quarto (265 × 203 mm), one page, on gilt-embossed State of New York, Executive Chamber, Albany ('Franklin D. Roosevelt, Governor') letterhead, 15 April 1932.
Folded for posting (with one crease through the signature); paper a little unevenly tanned, with a few light marks; slight loss to two corner tips; a few short edge tears sealed with tissue-paper on the verso; overall in good condition.
Offered with a print-out of a lengthy article (ten pages quarto) on Roosevelt by Barry Jones; it was written as part of a series published in the Melbourne 'Sunday Herald-Sun' newspaper. 'When I began writing this series, I had not decided who was the most important of the Ten Greatest Lives of the 20th Century. Reluctantly, even grudgingly, I came to recognise that it was Franklin Delano Roosevelt'. Provenance: Collection of The Hon Barry Jones AC.
